Armenian Corner was opened at the National Library of Bulgaria

15 December, 2022

15 December 2022 on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia an Armenian Corner was opened at the National Library of Bulgaria. The opening ceremony was part of the series of events dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Bulgaria.

More than 70 books on history of Armenia and Armenian Diaspora in Bulgaria, Armenian-Bulgarian ties, as well as Bulgarian translations of Classical Armenian literature, and works of renowned Bulgarian and Armenian writers are presented at the Corner.

An Armenian Manuscript Bible of 996 AD that is the oldest manuscript kept at the National Library was also displayed for the duration of the event at the request of the Embassy.

In his opening remarks Ambassador Armen Yedigarian commended the Armenian-Bulgarian centuries-old friendship, highlighted the importance of the continuation of the best traditions and noted the special role of the Armenian Community in Bulgaria in the further development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Yedigarian emphasized the role of the books as trustworthy sources of knowledge, especially nowadays, when the fake news, misinformation and hybrid warfare are unfortunate parts of our daily lives, when we face continuous rewriting and falsification of history and misappropriation of cultural heritage.

The event was attended by Bulgarian officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Armenian community and Bulgarian public.

The Literature presented at the Armenian Corner is available for all the visitors of the Library and will serve as a rich source of information about Armenia and Armenian civilization.
